Site Description

The purpose of my website is to inform visitors of the many places to visit and things to do within a short driving distance from the metro Phoenix area. Did you know that the State of Arizona has one of the most diverse landscapes of any state in the United States—from desert, rocky canyons to snow-capped mountains? It also has some of the best hiking and biking trails to suit all levels of experience.

Site Purpose

The purpose of my website is to inform visitors of the
many places to visit and things to do within a short
driving distance from the metro Phoenix area.
Did you know that the State of Arizona has one of the
most diverse landscapes of any state in the United
States—from desert, rocky canyons to snow-capped
mountains? It also has some of the best hiking and
biking trails to suit all levels of experience.

Target Audience

My target audience will be generally adults (21- 70 years old). Although I plan to have pages devoted to family
friendly locations most of my visitors will be those planning vacations to Arizona or to find places to go and
take their family. My target audience will generally be middle to upper middle class, however, the majority of
the places to go will be free or low cost and family friendly. The majority of my target audience are Internet
savvy and probably have mobile devices that they use on a regular basis. For this reason I will include maps and
GPS coordinates to all of the locations.

Likes and dislikes: My target audience are active individuals and don’t like to spend a lot of time looking for
places to go or things to do. They are generally already spending a lot of their time outdoors and may already know
of some of these places, but are always looking for new adventures and may not know of areas of interests close to home.

Persona #1

Name: Ted Byrd
Age: 72 years old
Ted is a retired civil engineer. He resides in Indiana for most of the year, but comes to Arizona in the winter months. He enjoys
hiking and birdwatching. He has 3 children, 2 sons and a daughter, and 5 grandchildren.
Goals and Tasks on website: Mostly he searches websites and blogs to locate great sites to go birdwatching. He also looks for other
places to go nearby to hike. He also has a fascination for Old West history and visits small town museums.
Physical, technological, and social environment: He resides in the winter in Apache Junction, AZ. In a rental home. He is physically
active. He owns a laptop, but not a smartphone. He uses GPS to locate bird locations. He also belongs to the Arizona Audubon Society
and a local hiking community where he goes with several people on hiking trips.

Persona #2

Name: Natalie and Joe Hyker

Age: Natalie and Joe (late 30s) Children: 3-8
Natalie Hyker is a stay-at-home mom during the week, but on the weekend she no longer wants to stay at home and wants to be outdoors.
She also enjoys photography, scrapbooking, and is a devoted soccer mom.
Goals and Tasks on website: Her main goal is to find new places to go on the weekends. She searches the Internet and plans two or three
activities a month.
Physical, technological, and social environment: The family resides in East Mesa and generally like to head eastern part of the valley,
but will occasionally go up north to escape the heat during the summer months. She is Internet savvy and has a blog where she writes down
some of their experiences on the trips they take. She and her husband use smartphones with Internet capabilities. They attend Church most
Sundays, so most activities are done Friday night and Saturdays.
